I missed my Flight Today. Then I Bought a House
Serendipity works in strange ways
It’s been a weird day.
If things were to have gone the way I thought they would, I’d be arriving in Seattle right about now.
My calendar said the flight left at noon.
We got to the airport with plenty of time. More than enough time to get through security and chill in the lounge.
Tried to check-in. The kiosk couldn’t find our reservation. Tried again. No luck.
No one was at the check-in counter. Wandered across our little airport and found the airline’s office. Spoke with the attendants, and they said there were no more flights departing for the day.
Uh oh.
They looked up my flight. It left at 9. Notification had somehow got sent as Pacific Time, even though I’m on the east coast. Damnit!
I called my credit card. They couldn’t find the reservation — “are you sure you used this card?”
Called the airline. “Hmm, you bought the non refundable fare. Sorry, no refunds.”
By now I am stressing hard. If ever there was a time to channel “Karen,” this was it. Everyone should have one Karen moment without consequence. Just one. I decided to use mine now.
