I'm American AND Jewish, and my experience lines up with hers. Literally every person I encountered was straight up rude. Without exception, every taxi driver hustled me and attempted to rip me off (I caught one in the act - it's a preplanned scheme).

While some of the environmental factors (weather, etc) couldn't be avoided, I'm sure much of what she described never happened to her in any other country, so I'm going to reason that Israel isn't exactly the most tourist friendly place.
