I'm very glad you enjoyed my article. Yes, you are correct, the format didn't lend to much explanation - I considered this a tongue in cheek experiment. There's so much to discuss, it would make a very long article, so I boiled it down to humorous essentials.
Although, perhaps a longer article might be warranted. My current best performing article is one about how my first week in Germany changed the way I saw the world.
There's so much I could talk about here. The overall thesis - there are no easy answers, as I learned from the memorial for a terrorist attack, the memorial for Yitzhak Rabin, and the enlightening conversation I had with a Palestinian gentleman at a falafel shop. Spoiler: No one has the moral high ground.
To answer your question about Tel Aviv though, the tour we went on explained the city had seen better days. We went down a boulevard that was intended to be a grand avenue, much like the Champs Elysees in Paris. Now, much of the city is run down. To me, the architectural style resembled that of Reseda (Daniel's neighborhood in Karate Kid). I have some pics I snapped, though I can't attach them here.
