Wow. That’s a really good article. Thanks for posting.

Something similar happened to me. This guy Darren used to beat me up on the playground in 4th grade. He was a grade higher than me, so I didn’t see him much after that, but I always remembered his name, and it brought unpleasant memories.

20 years later I have a party at my house and I meet all these new friends. I hit it off with one guy. I mean, really hit it off, we talk about our favorite hockey team, music, Vegas… we exchange numbers and begin hanging out. Like all the time.

It takes a month before I learn his last name. It’s the same Darren!

He has no memory whatsoever about our younger days, and he seems so different now than I remember.

He ends up becoming one of my best friends, and is with me through the biggest climb of my life. Always there. The kind of person you can call and talk to for hours about nothing.

Darren passed away in 2016 from cancer. And I miss him every day.
