Yeah, clap. There’s no reason not to.

Ok, a writer doesn’t get paid for claps, but rather how much time a Medium member spends on the article.

But — clapping does accomplish a few things. It lets the writer know you approve. It lets other readers know the article is enjoyed by others (an article with lots of claps is probably worth reading, right?)

Finally, it puts your own name out there. The more you show up clapping, highlighting and commenting on other people’s works, the more likely people might check out your own works. And more people reading your stories = more money!

Right, but don’t do it for the money, that’s just a side result. Do it to be a part of this great community.
